The American Sussex Association
Youth Program is designed to encourage youth members of the American Sussex
Association (between 5 and 18 years of age) to exhibit their Sussex Large Fowl and/or Sussex Bantams at
American Poultry Association recognized shows and events to accrue points towards Exhibitor Awards.
Exhibitor awards will be given to the top 5 individuals with the highest number of points accrued during the show season, based upon the ASA Youth Program scale of points. The show season runs from as January 1 to December 31 of each year. Points shall be calculated and Award Winners selected at the conclusion of the show season. Each individual member will start over at zero points on January 1 of each year. The Champion and Reserve Champion exhibitor at the end of the show season will receive a Rosette ribbon and Certificate of Recognition. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finishers will receive a Certificate of Recognition for their efforts.
To be enrolled in the Youth program, you must be a member of the ASA between 5-18 years of age. A child may join the ASA on January 1st of the year of their 5th birthday, and will “age out” of the program December 31st of the year of their 18th birthday. Membership for Youth Members may be obtained by Purchasing an Individual Youth Membership at a discounted rate ($6.00/year), or A Parent purchasing a Family Membership ($20.00/year) and listing the child on their membership application.
ASA Youth Program participants are not required to be members of the APA/ABA Youth Program, or members of a 4-H, Grange or FFA club in order to enroll, however involvement in these organizations is encouraged by the ASA.
